When designed to the MicroTCA open standard, MicroTCA products are physically smaller than the AdvancedTCA communications servers.

Normal computers & laptops also use many of the microTCA technologies for communications like the PCI Express cards, gigabit Ethernet connections and computer’s SRIO configurations.
