create download install & embed your own fonts for free I do a lot of publishing & photography works & I often need to create custom fonts for myself. While creating fonts you have to remember that there are 2 common types of fonts that are used – TrueType Fonts & PostScript Fonts .

But there is now a third type – OpenType Fonts . People are still embracing the new OpenType Font formats & standards. It allows anyone to create their own fonts, download them, install them into their document processing softwares, digital imaging softwares & deploy them across multiple different systems (they are "portable" from one platform to another like a PDF).

For my work I depend a lot on Font Struct . Font Struct is the online design board for Font Shop , the organization that is leading a lot of the development & support groups of OpenType Fonts . The online system allows you to create your own fonts, download them as a .zip file & install them on your computer for use.

You have to register to be able to design your own fonts. And once you create them, you can download the packaged .zip file for installing your custom fonts on your computer. You can also download fonts created by others (there are certain privacy & copy right rules you have to abide). You could also buy commercially available fonts from Font Shop.
