K-3D is a free 3D modeler , a free 3D animator & a free 3D rendering tool all combined into one. K-3D is available for Windows OS, Linux & Apple OS X.

You can download K-3D free. It is distributed under GNU Free Documentation License 1.2 . K-3D is designed on polygonal modeling , and includes basic tools for NURBS , patches, curves and animation .

K-3D is a free 3D modeling and animation software. It has all the features a professional artist or a professional CAD CAM designer would expect to have, ranging from complete freedom over the camera, a large selection of pre-defined 3D templates , 3D structures and and advanced animation engine.

Further, the Free K-3D modeler provides final rendering tools to finished models through a variety of rendering engines .

Future released of Free K3D modeling rendering software could include versions for BSD & Solaris versions of operating systems as well. Modeling & rendering is supported on all the major geometric formats like Wavefront OBJ , GTS and a raw format are fully supported, other ones are optional and depend on PLIB installation. Experimental plugins include OpenFX , OFF , RIB and X formats . Most of the image formats are supported as well, including JPEG , PNG , TIFF & BMP .

K-3D modeler software is plugin oriented. Most of the features, even the user interface is driven by plugins. A large number of stable plugins are already available. Additional image formats like OpenEXR & SUN are also supported through plugins.
