free tool to convert any picture into icons I have used Adobe Photoshop for all my picture needs but now when I wanted to create a favicon.ico icon for my website from a JPEG picture, I realized that Photoshop does save as an .ico icon file!

Luckily I had a small, very light tool that could convert any picture, in any format, into 3 different sizes of icon files. The Picture 2 Icon program , that you can download for free, lets you create icons (.ico file) from any picture that you have.

The Picture 2 Icon program is free & you can download it from the Download.com website. The program runs on Microsoft .NET framework, so you need to have that enabled / installed on your computer. As such, this program runs on all Microsoft operated computer (XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98, NT, ME & Vista).

Using the program is easy. Once installed, you Open any image file and choose between 3 options of sizes – 16×16, 32×32 & 48×48. If you are trying to create a favicon.ico file, you should choose the 16×16 for maximum compatibility across most browsers. Thats it, you’re done!

You can choose any type of picture file to convert into an icon – JPEGs, TIFFs, GIFs, PNGs and all the other popular formats. The program is extremely light, so it doesn’t tax your computer’s power or memory either.
