Roblox is a California based company that has created a free online games & learning portal for kids, children, teens & adults.
Roblox is set to create internet entertainment through virtual worlds, casual gaming and user-constructed content.
They want to make “Roblox into an online 3D game that will excite the imagination of the young and the young at heart”. There are plenty of free online games for kids & teens available already.
Roblox is an free online Multiplayer game, where you play in user-created worlds with blocks. Unlike most other games there aren’t any pre-defined goals. You are given a variety of objects and left to do whatever you want.
That is what makes kids playing Roblox creative. With a free account, kids can get a “Character” and a “Place” in the virtual online world. They can customize the virtual place and their character in any way they want.
To add a social touch to this virtual world of kids, they can travel to other kids places & talk & play games online with other kid’s “characters”. The depth of the interaction is only limited by the imagination of the kids & the players.
The tool also lets kids create their own online models in whatever way they want. Once created the new models can be published to other users online. Creation of the models & teams require some amount of technical knowledge. Kids, especially the ones around 4 – 10 would need help to create & publish their own teams & models.
Roblox has added further social touch by letting kids make friends online with other kids under the guise of their individual characters. You can search through Roblox website’s people page & choose who you want friends to be with & then send in a Add Friend request.
