Free Photo Editor – Add Selective Colors to Pictures with Free Tint Editor
With the Free Tint Photo Editor you could selectively add color fast to a monochromatic picture.
You can achieve the same effect of selective coloring with Adobe Photoshop & other costly Digital Imaging Software too.
You can download the Free Tint Photo Editor from indii.org . This is a personal website of Lawrence Murray of the University of Edinburgh .
The Tint Editor separates a picture into different color layers. You can split an image into 2 or more of the primary colors. The wizard automatically separates the main picture into images with individual color components . The various color options are displayed at the bottom of the wizard.

You can then choose which color layer to show & which color layer to hide, thus leaving some prominent colors while changing the others to black and white . In the image above, taken from the indii.org demo page, the sails have been left red while the remaining portion of the image is turned monochromatic .
