Free Video Converter – Extract the Audio from a Video file
A friend of mine had given me a video CD for his concert performance. The audio quality was excellent but the video was poor. I wanted to extract only the music (the audio part of the concert) and discard the video.
On looking around, I found the Video Converter , a free tool that can be used not only to convert video from one format to another, but can be used to extract & separate the audio portion of a multimedia from the video!
This free software is made by KoyoteSoft & you can download the free copy from their website . The program supports almost all the known videio formats – AVI, MP4, iPod, PSP, 3GP (mobile phone format), Zune, iPhone, FLV, MKV, WMV, ASF, MOV, QuickTime, MPEG, RM, VCD, VOB & you can convert to or from any of these. You can even make files out of your iPod or Zune into other portable versions like mp3.

But that is not why I wanted to share this software. Coming back to my situation, this software helped me extract only the audio portion of the CD . I could rip (or extract) only the sound of my video into MP3 or WMA (or any of the other formats available). As for quality, there wasn’t any noticeable loss in the audio quality.
Using the Audio Extractor was simple. As you run the file (that could be on your hard drive or CD or DVD), you could choose what output format you need & the software will begin extracting automatically. All the codecs for the different file formats are built into the software so you dont havr to look for codecs anywhere else.
I have used this software a few times without any problem. Their website says that the tool is free of any spyware or adware but no certification was available.
