iPhone, Time Capsule, Apple TV Take 2, iMovies & Macbook Air – Steve Jobs introduces the Apple products for 2008
Steve Jobs introduced the whole Apple Stores for 2008 in his Macworld Expo 2008 keynote address in San Francisco.
Apple is going places with the movies this time & introduced iMovie Rentals in collaboration with 20th Century, Warner Bros, Walt Disney, Paramount, Universal & Sony Pictures.
Steve Jobs outlines the promising products & services for Apple products with new launches & major upgrades to the most popular iPhones, iTunes & Apple TVs. With as many as 4 major technical upgrades to the iPhone, iPod Touch, Apple TV Take 2 & the new thinnest laptop Apple MacBook Air, Apple showed that user behavior drives many of the innovations in Apple.

1. Time Machine , which is a time scheduled automatic back up on an external hard drive is now bolstered by Time Capsule . With the wireless 802.11 capability & a server grade hard drive, you can back up all your computers wirelessly on the Time Capsule.
2. iphone has some serious upgrades too. The new feature is the Maps with Location application. This application is completely re-written to locate your position on the map with the push of a button. You can now find location to another place from your current position without knowing the current address – the iPhone automatically geo-positions you on the system. There were technical upgrades & improvements to viewing video & rich media on the iPhone too.
iPod Touch has 5 new application programs loaded in it. iPod Touch now comes with mails, maps, stocks, notes & weather reports.
3. iTunes Movie Rental allows users & subscribers to rent movies from 6 major distributors. Apple’s market research showed that people do not rent music simply because they listen to the tracks so many times. So Apple became the first to launch Movie Rentals for all their mobile devices. 20th centurym Warner Bros, Walt Disney, Paramount, Universal & Sony Pictures would now make movies available to Apple subscribers. Once rented, you can watch the movies instantly (less than 30 secs as Steve pointed put).
With technical upgrades to Apple TV , you can watch all the rented movies on a flat panel television as well. With the Apple TV Take 2 , as its called, you can watch movies, photos & videos from Flickr, .Mac & YouTube on large flat panel television screens. Moreover, the price of Apple TV Take 2 is brought down to USD 229 from the earlier USD 299. The movies are rented at USD 2.99 for the DVD formats & USD 3.99 for the HD formats.
4. MacBook Air is the world’s thinnest notebook with features like multi touch gestures. With this technology, the computer can understand simple human finger movements & perform taks based on that. Like panning a picture just by rotating the fingers on the touch pad & zooming in & out by pinching the fingers on your touch pad – immense productivity gains!
Intel CEO Paul Otellini spoke for a couple of minutes on the making of the Intel processor for Apple MAcBook Air. "Width of a dime, thick as a nickel & 4 million transistors to make one of the fastest Intel processors for Apple MacBook Air" said Paul Otellini.
