Nikon D3 named the European Professional Camera of the Year – EISA Awards 2008 – 2009
Nikon D3 , AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED
and AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED
have been awarded the prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA ) Awards this August 18, 2008.
Nikon Corporation President Michio Kariya announced that the Nikon D3 digital SLR camera was designated European Professional Camera 2008-2009 while the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED and the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED were named European Professional Lens 2008-2009 .
The official award ceremony will take place in Berlin, Germany on August 29, 2008.
EISA started in 1982 when the editors-in-chief from five European photo magazines came together to select "The Camera of the Year" for the first time.
In June each year, the editors-in-chief from all EISA member magazines meet to decide which of products analyzed in their publications during the past year deserve the coveted EISA Award.
The six categories under consideration are: Audio, Video, Home Theater, Photography, In-Car Electronics Electronics and Mobile Devices.
Along with naming Nikon as the Best European Camera, EISA 2008 also named:
- Olympus E3
as the European Advanced Camera of 2008
- Olympus µ 1030SW
as the European Ultra Compact Camera of 2008
- Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1 as the European Advanced Compact Camera of 2008
- Sony α350 as the European Camera of 2008
- Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5
as the European Compact Camera of 2008
- Canon EOS 1000D as the European Consumer Camera of 2008
- FujiFilm FinePix S100FS
as the European Super Zoom Camera of 2008
