Video Conferencing Software for Apple Mac Computers – Download XMeeting for Mac

free-conferencing-software-1XMeeting is a powerful video-conferencing client that is capable of using different communication protocols. XMeeting is created for the Apple Mac computers & used both the H.323 and SIP protocols for video conferencing.

XMeeting, like other Apple Mac applications, can be easily customized to work optimally from your home or office or any other location.

XMeeting is compatible with the latest Apple Mac OSX version & works seamlessly with Apple’s built in iSight video chat software.

XMeeting is an open source video conferencing software. You can download the latest version of XMeeting for Mac free.

When XMeeting is launched for the first time, the Setup Assistant will be launched first instead of just displaying the main window. This assistant will help you to set up & configure XMeeting.

The assistant will create and configure a Location and – if needed – a H.323 or SIP account. The User Interface is very well designed – to help you configure the free video-conferencing software, and provide important call information.

The Apple Mac OSX XMeeting video-conference tool provides 2 viewing options – the full screen mode & the Picture-in-Picture Video Conferencing mode. Unlike other popular Instant Messengers like Yahoo!IM or Microsoft IM, XMeeting offers 3 great Picture-in-Picture video-conferencing options.

The Picture-in-Picture mode switches between the various picture-in-picture modes. The following modes are available:

  • the Classic PiP Mode – The local video is displayed in a small rectangle above the remote video. You can position the local video within the video view
  • the Side-by-Side PiP Mode -  Both local and remote video are drawn side by side with equal sizes. The left video is the remote, the right the local one
  • the 3D PiP Mode – Similar to the Side by Side mode, but arranged in the room. This 3D picture in picture mode is also known as the “iChat-like” mode

There is also a built in Address Book. The Address Book tool lets you manage your contacts stored in the Address Book database. You can add new persons, add H.323 or SIP addresses to existing persons and edit the addresses stored.

When editing addresses, you always have to specify to which protocol this address belongs. The label helps you identify the what kind of address this is. For more details about labels, please see the information to the Address Book application.

In case of a H.323 address, you can also attach some extra information to the calling address itself. You can force XMeeting to use a specific Gatekeeper whenever you call this address. In most cases, this feature isn’t necessary, but it may be useful for testing purposes.

One could do the same by having two H.323 accounts for two different Gatekeepers and two locations that point to the accounts, but this approach here is much more convenient.

XMeeting is on a constant upgrade plan. The free video-conferencing software for Apple Mac will be improved further with the ability to stream videos & several useablity features to make it one of the free best professional video conferencing tool for Apple Mac OSX.
